End PARS! Close Berks! Abolish ICE! Flyer

END PARS!! CLOSE BERKS!! ABOLISH ICE!!

WHAT IS PARS?

When an individual is arrested, their country of origin, Social Security number, and address are entered into the PARS database. PARS (Preliminary Arraignment Reporting System) is a digital database operated by the City of Philadelphia, which currently has a contract to share the database with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aka I.C.E.

WHY MUST WE END PARS?

When an individual without a Social Security number is arrested and entered into PARS, this information is shared with I.C.E. This gives I.C.E. ample opportunity to further terrorize our immigrant communities. The City of Philadelphia is essentially handing over information that empowers I.C.E. to detain and deport our friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Tell Mayor Kenney NO PARS & NO COLLABORATION WITH I.C.E.

SHUT DOWN BERKS!

The Berks County Detention Center, known officially as the Berks County Residential Center (BCRC), is a prison for immigrant families, where children as young as two-weeks-old have been incarcerated. PA Department of Homeland Security has publicly recognized that the center is in violation of the license and as of Monday, February 22, BCRC has been operating without a license. Given the record of inhumane conditions and that operation of BCRC is against state and federal law, we demand that BCRC be immediately shut down.

ABOLISH ICE

I.C.E – Immigration and Customs Enforcement – is an agency formed within the Department of Homeland Security in 2002. They arrest, detain and deport undocumented immigrants who are already inside the United States. Establish under Obama, I.C.E. has been further empowered under Trump to separate families and detain children. I.C.E. has done enough harm.
